When the next legislative session begins in January, lawmakers will begin looking at a bill that will grant schools in North Dakota an additional $400 million in educational funding.

The bill comes in response to the growing student population in the state. With more students to educate, naturally, the state's schools will need more funding in order to continue providing the quality education they are known for.

The bill is the largest of its kind in North Dakota history.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that $280 million will "follow students" and $125 million will provide for various district construction projects.

Among other things, the bill proposes $45 million specifically to help at-risk students and $2.5 million to send "districts with the most English language learners."
