Boaters and water enthusiasts are being warned about possible high water safety hazards on Missouri River according to North Dakota's Game and Fish, as reported by KFYR-TV.

You'll notice very high water levels on the river which can hide sandbars and other debris that can pose a threat to boating and jet ski traffic.

Due to the high water, traffic on the river can also cause high wakes on shore, which can be dangerous for citizens along the shoreline.

Garrison Dam is releasing higher-than-normal amounts of water because of the runoff in the basin.

The reservoirs have the second highest levels on record at Montana’s Fort Peck and North Dakota’s Lake Sakakawea.

The high water levels can pose a threat for underwater sandbars and other debris, but the river is still usable for regular navigation.

Boats and other enthusiasts should use caution throughout the summer months or until otherwise notified.
