Black Smoke, White Smoke – I Say, Let’s Use a Scoreboard!

HOLY COW! (no pun) The world is Pope Crazy! After all, this man will inherit that largest flock of Catholic followers, and will also inherit a church in crisis. The scandal, the problem of many Catholics feeling as though the church has abandoned them and their families or social circles. The Catholic church is rich in tradition. The question I have - is it time for the religion to get a face lift and update its stand on many of its beliefs? Or is that even possible?

So many questions at a time of transition for this church. Regardless of your beliefs or not, this is still an exciting time for Catholics. I often think about a few things in terms of updating the system. The voting is still done on paper, then that paper is burned and a chemical is placed on the fire to produce and white or black smoke (what does it mean if there is pink smoke?). White meaning the Cardinals came to a 2/3 majority vote on one Cardinal to lead the flock. Holy MOLY, there is even a smokecam where you can watch the rain and pigeons fall and fly around the chimney like the bald eagle cam. AMAZING!

I say we update the voting! Can we adopt a score board where we can see how each Cardinal vote and have a score board with the number of votes each Cardinal receives? I know, this may not be as exciting as the smoke, but it could very well move this system along at a quicker pace.

As a Catholic, this is an exciting time for the Catholic religion. I am not holding my breath for any type of change or update. And I say that with disappointment. The religion needs to WELCOME all of it's followers and need to be more OPEN and reveling to it's followers. As with many institutions, sometimes a face lift or new paint job does the trick.

Now, let me get back to the smoke stack-POPE cam!
