The Government is about to switch off a common household item in North Dakota since the 1800s.

An item that the infamous Thomas Edison patented way back when.  Not only will these items become illegal to buy or manufacture in North Dakota but they will be illegal to sell or manufacture all across the United States on August 1st, 2023.

I'm referring to a staple across American homes for hundreds of years.  The incandescent lightbulb.

They are being replaced by more energy-efficient LED lightbulbs.  LED lightbulbs provide up to 75% more light and last 25% to 50% longer.  LED lightbulbs will use less energy and reduce CO2 admissions, according to an article on The Hill.

You will notice a difference at the cash register, however.

LED lightbulbs will cost you more money, to begin with, but since they last longer they will save Americans some money in the long run.  Plus, once again LED lightbulbs will be better for the environment.

The article by The Hill goes on to say that getting rid of inefficient incandescent lightbulbs will really reduce carbon dioxide emissions over the next 30 years.  Plus, switching out the bulbs will cut planet-warming carbon emissions by 222 million metric tons over the next 30 years, which works out to the emissions generated by 28 million homes in one year.

If you have a stockpile of incandescent lightbulbs in your home, you don't have to worry.  You can still possess and use incandescent lightbulbs legally.  It is just illegal to manufacture or sell them in North Dakota or the rest of the country for that matter.  Manufacturers and businesses who break the law could face a stiff fine for doing so.
