In a lot of ways, Dan + Shay's recent ballad, "Speechless," was always a good candidate for an acoustic treatment. The song is deeply personal, with a music video that borrows footage from Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney's real-life weddings, the kind of song that feels written straight from personal experience. But it was ultimately due to fan demand -- and the fact that so many listeners wanted a more stripped-down version of the song to play at their weddings -- that the duo decided to release an acoustic version of the song. The duo released the acoustic version of the song after the single version of "Speechless" hit No. 1 at country radio, so it felt momentous for the group to mark the occasion by doing something special for their listeners. In addition to "Speechless," they also shared an acoustic version of their No. 1 hit, "Tequila," which also comes off of the group's self-titled third album.

"We noticed a lot of you wanting an acoustic version of speechless for weddings, so we recorded one. And we recorded tequila," the group wrote on Twitter. "Since speechless is No. 1 at country radio, and tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of tequila, we thought midnights might be a good time to drop both."

In February of 2019, Dan + Shay will launch their upcoming trek, Dan + Shay The Tour, in New Orleans. The run of shows will extend through April 20 and feature opening acts Morgan Evans and Chris Lane.
