DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) — Deadwood city commissioners have repealed an ordinance banning fortune tellers, psychics and mystics from operating in the western South Dakota gambling town.

The ban had been in place for more than two decades. The local Chamber of Commerce lobbied to have it repealed, saying it would be an opportunity to expand the town's offerings beyond gambling.

Opponents said fortune tellers and psychics don't present a family friendly environment. But Mayor Chuck Turbiville tells the Rapid City Journal (http://bit.ly/1ediLDT) that he sees fortune telling as harmless entertainment, and he doesn't expect the end of the ban to have a big effect on the city.
