If you're traveling outside the Bismarck-Mandan area, but still in-state, there's plenty of festivities scattered around the state to take advantage of.

By now, you're more than a little familiar with everything happening in the Bismarck-Mandan area for the Fourth of July Weekend. Of course, one of the most popular events you know about is the Mandan Rodeo, happening July 1st through the 4th. However, if you happen to travel outside the area, you may just stumble upon one the events on this list.

    Pierce County Fair

    Rugby, ND

    This fair is going on through Sunday and has a little bit of everything. The event includes a carnival, a ranch rodeo, petting zoo, beer gardens, food vendors, a demolition derby, "Daryl's Racing Pigs," Junior points Livestock Show, a 5K Run and more. Any fair that advertises racing pigs is well worth making a trip for. The event takes place on the Pierce County Fairgrounds and admission is free for all.

    Stutsman County Fair

    Jamestown, ND

    The fair goes through the end of Saturday night with a hefty schedule of events. There's a Murphy Brothers Carnival, agriculture exhibits, and live music, which features performances from Redline and IV Play on Friday and Saturday night, respectively. Gate passes for all days are $12. The fair takes place on the Stutsman County Fairgrounds.

    25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

    Grand Forks, ND

    This will be the first weekend of this musical comedy's production as an eclectic group of tweens "candidly disclose hilarious and touching stories from their home lives," as they try to spell their way through multiple harsh words and hope they don't hear the dreaded elimination bell. The performances will take place over the course of the next three weekends at the Empire Arts Center at 415 Demers Avenue. Tickets range from $17 to $22.
