I am sad along with the rest of Country Radio and the Country Music World with the passing of George Jones this morning in Nashville. George leave his wife Nancy behind, children, grand children and nieces and nephews, plus a large library of country music that will live on forever!

The Country Music world is reacting with words of sympathy and condolences. Many are sharing memories of sharing the stage with George, being on the road with Jones and so on.

I thought I'd share my meeting with Jones. I was a young broadcaster in my hometown of Lafayette, LA. Every year, in Judice, LA., one of the areas largest trail rides would take place at Alex Broussard's Ranch. You see, George and Alex were very good friends. Plus, George's wife Nancy was related to Alex.

I was on the trail ride with my trusty old horse SALLY, who was trained to walk when the trail ride was moving and to stop when the trail ride stopped! You couldn't ask for a better horse! On this particular ride is where I met George. He too was on the trail ride. He was very nice and genuine! We spent time together riding and talking about music and his life on the road. He was divorced from Tammy by this time. He had a performance at The Ranch and let me introduced him. Jones was a funny guy and as most country music stars, very down to earth, and did love to have a drink or four or five at the time. We did share the bar together that night! Such a memory!

It is a time that I will never forget.

Good Night George! Thanks for the memories and the music!
