In December's installment of The Boot's Guest Room Sessions, alt-folk collective Alright Alright offer up a performance of their solemn new tune "By The Bed." Press play above to watch the clip, filmed in their hometown of Denver, Colo.

For their Guest Room Sessions performance, Alright Alright took over a piece of property located near Denver and owned by their special guest for the video, guitarist Eric Dawson Tate. He's branded the location, which sits behind a Costco, "/O," pronounced "Slash-O."

"This property ... is much like our own lives: a spot of calm in the city," says Alright Alright's China Kent. "If you listen close, you can hear highway traffic just a couple hundred yards away. Eric and his family recently purchased this gorgeous, two-acre oasis and are transforming it into a studio and artist retreat."

Alright Alright are also joined for this performance of "By the Bed" by their friend, drummer Ben Wysocki of the rock band the Fray. Both he and Tate produced songs for Alright Alright's newest album, October's Nearby.

"Each produced two songs on the new record, and Eric mixed the entire album as well," Kent explains. "Playing with them was magical, especially when Eric’s little family came out to listen."

To that end, Tate's child Paisley makes an unexpected guest appearance in the video, too. "Toddling around, the baby, Paisley, discovered our audio equipment and started playing with the knobs," Kent notes. "We tried to keep our poker faces, but you can hear us laughing with relief at the end when we discover that no harm was done!"

Helmed by Kent and her husband Seth, Alright Alright bring a diverse slate of musical experiences and styles to the table. Keys player and vocalist China Kent is a classically trained pianist, while Seth Kent is a guitar tech who's worked with the Fray. Writing and performing together, the Kents' respective talents surface in Alright Alright's smartly spun lyrics and striking instrumentation.

Nearby, on which "By the Bed" appears, is out now. Fans can catch Alright Alright in Denver on Jan. 11, when the band is set to perform at the Walnut Room.
