NEW YORK (AP) — Tens of thousands of revelers, bands, floats and politicians are expected to line Fifth Avenue for New York City's Columbus Day Parade.

One big star at Monday's 70th annual event is the city's most powerful Italian: Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Politicians on the ballot next month also are expected to attend. They include Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino, and Staten Island Congressman Michael Grimm.

The parade is organized by the Columbus Citizens Foundation. It's billed as the world's largest celebrations of Italian-American heritage and culture.

Organizers say 30 marching bands and over 25 floats will march up Fifth Avenue between 44th and 72nd streets.

Former "American Idol" performer Jena Irene is among the entertainers.

The grand marshal is First Data Corporation CEO and Chairman Frank Bisignano.
