Nothing starts a morning off right like a Jason Aldean serenade. The newly-crowned ACM Entertainer of the Year stopped by the Today show on Wednesday (April 18) morning to sing the title cut from his new album, Rearview Town.

The song itself seems to hit a chord with Aldean, considering all the ups and downs he has gone through over the past 12 months, from the amazing moments such as the birth of his son Memphis to the Route 91 tragedy.

“I think for me [Rearview Town] is sort of a metaphor for me for putting things that have been a black cloud and that sort of been weighing you down and putting that in the past,” Aldean remarked on the show. "[It’s about] looking down the road to better things ahead.”

For the superstar, one of those better things things just might be a brand-new number one album. “That’s what I hear,” he said, smiling as the Today hosts hinted that Rearview Town might just grab the top spot this week.

“I don’t like to get ahead of ourselves," he added. "It seems to be doing really well this first week, and its always nice to come out that first week and make a statement when you have a new album. If we happen to have a number one record this week, it will be a big week for us for sure.”

Indeed, it could be the perfect ending to a fairytale week for Aldean. “We are riding pretty high this week,” said the Georgia native, who also stuck around to perform “A Little More Summertime” and “You Make It Easy” for the Today crowd. “It’s been a good week, you know, with the album dropping and taking Entertainer of the Year at the ACMs — it was a big night for us.”
