Katy Perry Falls for ‘American Idol’ Dreamboat Singing Brett Young [Watch]
Katy Perry is smitten with a contestant on American Idol who sings country music. Even Luke Bryan seems fond of the singer, and as 27-year-old Trevor Holmes walked into the audition, his good looks were immediately apparent.
"Good Lord, you're a dreamboat!" Bryan said.
Perry agreed, asking him for his story. The California native says he splits his time working in construction and writing songs in order to help pay the bills for his mother, who has lupus. Holmes then begins to sing Brett Young's chart-topper, "In Case You Didn't Know," as Perry looks on all googly-eyed.
Forgotten American Idol Auditions of the Stars
Cleverly, Holmes changes the song's lyrics to, "In case you didn't know, Katy I'm crazy 'bout you." Bryan approves, laughing. And as Perry attempts to hide behind Bryan, the country singer admits, "I can't protect you from him."
Holmes finishes his performance and while Perry's an obvious fan, she's the first to give him a critique. "All right, let's get down to business. You're cute and all but," she says, pausing before saying, "I'm just kidding. You guys go. I can't talk."
"Can I tell you something really quick?" Holmes interrupts. "I have literally had a crush on you . . . you have literally been my crush for forever. I'm sorry, but I had to get that off of my chest."
As Bryan and Lionel Richie give Holmes constructive criticism, the world seems to fade away as the camera pans to Holmes and Perry gazing into each other's eyes. Unfortunately, this tale doesn't have a fairy tale ending just yet, as Holmes has a girlfriend. Once all three judges give him the approval to go through to Hollywood, his girlfriend is led into the room and gives him a big kiss in front of a heart-stricken Perry.
"I love him so much. You know what they say: 'If you love it let it go and then it will come back and marry you,'" she comments.
