BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — It's a sure sign of spring — seasonal load restrictions are being placed on some state highways in North Dakota.

The weight limits are put in place to guard against damage to roads made susceptible by the spring thaw.

The state Transportation Department on Tuesday put load restrictions in place in central and western North Dakota, including all roads west of and including state Highway 3 and all roads south of and including U.S. Highway 2. Other roads with restrictions are state Highways 11, 34, 36 and 200.

Up-to-date seasonal load restriction information can be found on the Transportation Department website or by dialing 511.
