MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — Mitchell is abuzz with talk about who won a $1 million Powerball prize.

The ticket sold in the city matched all five white numbers but missed the Powerball in Saturday's drawing, winning the game's runner-up prize. The odds of winning it are 1 in about 5 million.

The winner hasn't come forward. Local businessman Jack Robinson tells The Daily Republic newspaper people in the city of 15,250 hope it's someone local and not a hunter from out of state, so that the money stays in the community.

South Dakota Lottery spokeswoman Kelly Thompson says people who play the lottery like to imagine what they would do with a large payout, but with the expectation that they won't win. She says when they do win, it can be overwhelming.
