The 2017 FCS playoff bracket was announced on Sunday and the North Dakota State Bison earned the number 2 overall seed, which includes a first-round bye.

The FCS Selection Committee had a tough decision to make regarding the 2nd seed in the tournament due to the fact that there were five one-loss teams within the Top 10 of the FCS Coaches Poll, but NDSU earned the spot, which could potentially setup an epic championship matchup down the line with undefeated number 1 seed, James Madison.

This past Saturday, the Bison clinched the outright title in the Missouri Valley Football Conference with a 20-7 victory at Illinois St. The victory gave the Bison an automatic bid into the FCS playoff tournament, giving them their 8th consecutive appearance in the playoff tournament.

NDSU will host a second-round matchup against the winner of San Diego at Northern Arizona. That game will be played Saturday, November 25th at 7 p.m and will be streamed online on ESPN3. The winner will have a date with North Dakota State at the Fargodome on December 2nd at 2:30 p.m.
