North Dakota Driver Receives Heavy Fine in Canada For Confusing MPH and KPH
In the United States our speed limits are in miles per hour. That is not the case in Canada and drivers need to be aware of that.
Most other countries use the metric system, a system many here in the US don't care for. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba posted on their Twitter account on Monday about an incident in which a driver in North Dakota claimed he was driving 100 like the speed limit signs said.
However the sign did not mention the units which in Canada are kilometers per hour. The North Dakota driver was going 100 miles per hour.

We assume the $940 fine was Canadian dollars which is about $684 American dollars. That's still quite a chunk of change.
