North Dakota Man Charged in Fatal Crash

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man is charged with criminally negligent homicide in a car crash that killed a 24-year-old Ohio man.

The Bismarck Tribune reports 23-year-old Jacob Cook of Parshall was charged Tuesday in the November crash that killed his passenger, Joshua Leaverton. A warrant was issued for Cook's arrest.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Cook admitted he had gotten "a little impatient" with the vehicle in front of him on an Interstate 94 on-ramp near Bismarck and attempted to pass it. Authorities say his car spun around and rolled into a ditch. Cook and Leaverton weren't wearing seatbelts and were ejected. Leaverton was declared dead at an area hospital.

A preliminary breath test showed Cook's blood alcohol level was below the legal limit.

It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
