MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Attendance at this year's North Dakota State Fair fell short of last year's record.

The fair wrapped up its nine-day run on Saturday. Manager Renae Korslien says 314,446 people attended — the second-highest attendance on record. Last year, 320,485 people passed through the gates.

Korslien says that she's pleased with this year's attendance, given that rain fell on a couple of the fair days.

Next year, the fair will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Marketing Director Jennifer Hubrig says staff is already working on some special activities.
