Nursing Mother Receives Apology from Airlines after a Nasty Fuss at Departure Desk
A social media nightmare was unfolding for Delta Airlines at the Atlanta Airport as a nursing mother was denied boarding because of her breast pump.
Lauren Modeen was not allowed to board a flight with her breast pump, which was packed in her carry-on suitcase. Plus Modeen had a handbag and a cooler with ice packs to transport her breast milk. She was flying to Minneapolis.
Airline procedure for Delta and other major carriers allow for one carry-on bag and a personal item. Airlines also allow for medical devices and certain other equipment.
The official word from Delta was an apology and included this statement-
“Delta supports the rights of women to breastfeed,Breastfeeding and breast pumps are permitted aboard any Delta flight and in Delta ground facilities.”
Modeen has started a Facebook support page, Boobs on Board to help promote support and understanding for mothers breast feeding on planes.
