Oil Rig Fire Reported in Western North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Officials are investigating a fire at an oil rig site in western North Dakota.

State Department of Mineral Resources spokeswoman Alison Ritter says the fire was reported Tuesday afternoon near Watford City. She says a Nabors Industries rig caught fire at a Whiting Petroleum oil well site.

Ritter says more details are expected Wednesday. She says a state inspector has been on scene.

Nabors officials did not immediately return telephone calls on Wednesday.
