NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — Two families were evacuated from their homes in the Van Hook area near New Town after a group of oil storage tanks exploded and burned.

KXMC-TV reports lightning is believed to be the cause of the Sunday afternoon fire. Firefighters from New Town monitored the scene and allowed the blaze to burn itself out. It took about three hours, despite heavy rain.

Families in two nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
