It seems like the rest of the nation is finally learning what folks from the Dakotas have known for years: Deadwood is a really, really cool place.

Thrillist recently put together a list of small American cities with amazing architecture and sandwiched right between Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Sleepy Hollow, New York, was Deadwood, South Dakota.

The website points out that, though Deadwood has become more of a tourist trap in recent years, it has preserved much of its character through preservation efforts, which restored more than 80 different buildings in the area.

Visitors to Deadwood can take it countless different attractions, many of which have been painstakingly preserved and restored, including the Mount Moriah Cemetery, the Adams Museum and House, and the Bullock Hotel.
