LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — One was a talented artist who sang in an all-female band and planted trees to beautify her neighborhood.

Another was studying to be a radiology technician and looking forward to the future with a longtime boyfriend.

Thirty-three-year-old Jillian Johnson and 21-year-old Mayci Breaux were shot and killed last Thursday while watching a movie in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Police say 59-year-old John Russell Houser stood up about 20 minutes into the movie and began firing before ultimately taking his own life.

Funerals for both women are scheduled for Monday.

Johnson was remembered by people in Lafayette for her artistic talents. She played in a band and ran boutiques in Lafayette and New Orleans.

Breaux was just starting her studies to become a radiology technician and worked at a local clothing boutique in Lafayette.
