Sturgis officially kicks off Monday, but for many veterans, Sturgis is already going on and in full swing as you can see from the Sturgis Cams.

Everyone seems to have a different route to Sturgis from Bismarck. One option according to MapQuest is the 295 mile route from I94 W to ND 49 at Glen Ullin then south on SD 73 and SD 79.

Then you have the alternate route that takes you through the scenic back roads from Mandan, down the strip to ND 21 and ND 8 into South Dakota.

This route is 290 miles and will take your ride through beautiful back roads of North Dakota. Be sure to know how far your bike can roll on a tank of gas. Double check the accommodations and fuel stops.

If you haven't by now, be sure to get a certified mechanic to double check your fluids and bike. It is not a bad idea to have motorcycle road side assistance especially on the back roads. A GPS will definitely help.
