BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Marine Corps recruits have gotten a taste of life in the military during training exercises in Bismarck.

KXMB-TV reports the recruits and their families gathered with veterans at Sertoma Park this weekend to learn the ropes of the Marine Corps.

The event is part of a program that allows recruits to research and think about joining the military before being locked in for mandatory boot camp.

Ray Morrell with the Dakota Leathernecks says his detachment with the Marine Corps League is comprised of folks of all ages. He says this event allows recruits to see that regardless of the generation, people are still Marines.
