The story is disturbing. For full disclosure, that is my personal opinion in terms of the story being disturbing. This story comes out of Dyersburg, Tenn.

According to UPI.com, the student is claiming religious prosecution for being kicked out of class for saying "bless you" to another classmate who sneezed in class. This after a teacher instructed the class not to talk.

According to Kendra Turners Facebook Page, she was practicing her freedom speech and religion and would do it again!

According to UPI.com-

Recounting the event on a friend's blog, Turner said she was acting on  authority of her faith and her church pastor's interpretation of the  constitution when she offered what she viewed as a "courtesy."

"[The teacher] said 'Why did you say that?' I said 'Because it is  courtesy.' She said 'Says who?' I said 'Says my pastor.' ... I asked her why it  was a big deal to her. She yelled at me and said 'We will not have Godly  speaking in my class!' That is when I stood up and said 'My pastor said I have a  constitutional right -- 1st amendment freedom of speech.' She said 'Not in my  class you don't.'"

Turner says she was then sent to in-school suspension while her classmates  cheered her actions, to the point that assistant principal Lynn Garner had to be  called in to control them.

This whole story is too weird and this country is getting way to weird about small non-important things. It's a common courtesy, especially in the South (being I am from the South) to be raised saying "ma'am, sir, thank you, bless you" and to be respectful to parents and authority.

Did this teacher and school go too far? What do you think? Was the student right to stand up for her believes? Was the student disrespectful?
