One of the benefits of the ACA was the fact that insurance companies could no longer deny coverage to individuals with conditions such as diabetes, obesity or high blood pressure.

24/7 Wall St. recently released the states with the highest number of preexisting conditions. They used information from the Census Bureau and from the Kaiser Family Foundation. The study also includes the life expectancy in each state. The states with the lowest yearly income did not score well in this study.

Colorado and Minnesota scored the best for states with the least amount of preexisting conditions with 22% with the life expectancy at 80.7 and 80.3 years respectively.

North Dakota came tied at #39 for states with preexisting conditions, tied with New Hampshire. The life expectancy in North Dakota is 75.9 years and New Hampshire is 80.1.

The states that scored highest with preexisting conditions were West Virginia, Kentucky and Mississippi.
