The last time the World Fair was in the United States was in 1984, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I was there.

It's one of those events in your life you just never forget. Sure, we've all be to the county fair or the state fair, but the World's Fair, that's huge.

And there is a chance the World Fair could come to the Midwest, next door in Minnesota. Expo 2023, and Minnesota is in the running according to the Star Tribune.

As a young broadcaster, I attended the World Expo in New Orleans in 1984. As a matter of fact, much of the Riverwalk and the Convention Center today, are all buildings that were built for Expo 1984.  The sad reality is Expo 1984 was a financial disaster for the city of New Orleans and the entire state. Never the less, I do have fond memories of attending the Worlds Fair several times, as I lived only 2 hours away from the Crescent City.

I would be excited if Minnesota would get the Expo. I don't know many people that get to experience a world's fair twice in a life time.

The Expo would be another feather in the hat of Minnesota, since the state is getting other super events like the 2018 Super Bowl and the 2019 Final Four Championships.

Bismarck and North Dakota would be fortunate to have such a huge event right next door to the state, if for only being so close to travel to such and event. It's one of those things you'll always remember. I remember my World's Fair!
