FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Rain and snow have created treacherous traveling conditions in eastern North Dakota.

The state Transportation Department has issued a travel alert for the region. That means people can still travel but should use caution because of the conditions.

The alert includes the cities of Fargo, Grand Forks and Wahpeton.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a chance of snow in western North Dakota on Wednesday, the day many people travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. High temperatures are expected to range from the single digits in the northeast to the mid-20s in the southwest.

The forecast for Thanksgiving on Thursday calls for a chance of snow in the west and central parts of the state, and highs similar to Wednesday.
