UND Gets $750K Research Grant From NASA

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The University of North Dakota has received a $750,000 grant for a multi-purpose research station in support of NASA*s future missions.

The funds will help the school conduct research and development in areas that are applicable to NASA's work in Earth science, aeronautics and human and robot deep space exploration.

North Dakota's congressional delegation says the federal funds are being made available through NASA's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. The federal funds will be given over a three-year period.

U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer says NASA's support of research station at UND "is another example of North Dakota's growing importance in developing cutting edge aerospace technologies."

The aerospace industry in North Dakota has been rapidly growing, particularly after Grand Forks was given federal authorization for drone testing.
