Let's say you had one chance to give residents outside North Dakota a few items to give them a taste of the Peace Garden State. What would you put inside?

That's the idea behind a Kickstarter campaign called 'State Crate' which aims to raise enough money to send state themed boxes to subscribers.

According to the Kickstarter page:

Each month, subscribers will receive 6 to 8 locally-sourced, hand-crafted products from small businesses in a different U.S. state. Featured items will vary from month-to-month to ensure a unique experience each time, and will include a mix of food items, drinks, spice mixes, sauces, coffee, soaps, souvenir items, and one-of-a-kind products: some classic, and some with a distinctive, local twist.

The campaign only has a week left and is over $10,000 short of their goal as of this posting but that's irrelevant.

Regardless of if this subscription service gets started, we're curious to know what food items, souvenirs, and other items you would want in a North Dakota themed box to give non North Dakotans a true taste of what we're all about.

Assume you only have eight items to choose from. Sound off on our Facebook page. We'd love to hear your suggestions. Here are some of ours (and we are assuming we can send items in a refrigerated or frozen box):

  • Walleye
  • Fleischkuekle
  • Kuchen
  • Honey
  • Sunflower seeds
  • A Bison Statuette
  • NDSU Shirt
  • UND Shirt
