Winter Weather Statements and Advisories in Effect Casuing a Hazardous Situation for the Area

The cold weather, wet conditions and possible snow will cause a hazardous situation for the entire state. The National Weather Service in Bismarck has several advisories and statements for the Bismarck-Mandan area that may cause a icy and slippery commute through out the day Tuesday.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is posted for the region including the towns of Jamestown, Bismarck, Mandan, Watford City, Williston, New Salem, Fort Yates and Dickinson.

This area will be effected by freezing rain with accumulations of one tenth of an inch. This area can expect freezing conditions with accumulations of ice Monday night through Tuesday morning.

Travel conditions can deteriorate through the overnight hours. Make sure you check road conditions before any travel in the next 24-36 hours.

Bowbells, Minot, Harvey, Carrington, Jamestown and Oaks will experience minor ice build up with the possibility of 1-3 inches of snow. The highest snowfall accumulations are expected in the Turtle Mountains, Rugby, Rolla and Bottineau with the possibility of between 2-5 inches.

The FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY remains in effect until 11 AM (CST) Tuesday.

A WIND ADVISORY - 12  PM (CST) until 9 PM. This advisory will effect the entire region with gusty winds from 20-45 MPH. This will cause blowing and drifting snow and a travel advisory could be issues be for the region.

The areas effected by the wind advisory include Bismarck-Mandan, Jamestown, Bowman, Dickinson, Fort Yates, Garrison, Hazen, New Salem, Buelah, Mott and Steele.
