This case happened in a rural Wheatland property and the dogs were  taken to Casselton Veterinary Service for medical care and housing. Wheatland is about 30 miles west of Fargo.

Early reports Wednesday indicated all the dogs survived, but some were immobilized from their dirty and matted coats according to officials. Many of the dogs were under weight from not being properly fed.

The dogs were placed in foster homes Thursday.

It’s unclear if the property owners will face criminal charges. Authorities continue to investigate this case.
