    He is Not a Member of the Grand Ole Opry

    Although Strait has the credentials to be a part of the Opry, he has never been admitted . The Grand Ole Opry is in Nashville, making it difficult for Strait to make appearances on a regular basis from his home in Texas.

    His Mother Left his Family

    Strait's parents, John and Doris, divorced while he and his siblings were young. Doris moved out with his sister leaving Strait and his brothers to be raised by their father.

    He Served in the U.S. Army

    Strait enlisted in the army in 1971 and got stationed in Hawaii. While there he performed with a group called Rambling Country. Strait was honorably discharged in 1975 and earned a degree in Agriculture from Southwest Texas State University.

    He Was Not Confident in His Hit Songs

    Strait confesses that he didn't think some of his songs would be hits. This includes 'Living and Living Well' which went to number one in 2002. On the other hand, some of his best songs did not do better than Top 5 or Top 10 including 'True' and 'You'll Be There.'

    He Thinks of His Late Daughter While Singing 'You'll Be There'

    Strait does not like interviews which has resulted in keeping most of his personal life private. However, in an interview done with USA Today he opened up about wanting to do the song because it reminded him of his late daughter, Jenifer. She died in a car accident in 1986.
