I'm Lar Dawg and here it is Mothers Day! I'd like to introduce you to my mom, Mary Alice LeBlanc, known to many as Wally. I called here MOM!

Mom was like any other mom I guess. She loved to cook and it is her love of cooking that taught me how to cook.( being from Louisiana and Cajuns, we cook) I am the "baby" or the youngest of 5 so when mom cooked, she cooked big and the left overs were always the best!

Mom also was in broadcasting, mostly radio and TV but also was the fashion coordinator for fashion shows. So at a very young age, I was introduced to the broadcasting industry and the fashion industry. To this day, I still love to shop and buy clothes and probably have more clothes and shoes than any man should have. It was this early exposure that made me take this career path into broadcasting. I started in radio at a very young age, while still in high school and despite having a speech impediment. I went through 12 years of speech therapy to over come severe stuttering. I still stutter today but I have learned to cover it very well, to where I talk for a living.

Mom always encourage all of us kids to do and be the best that we can be, and through her encouragement  I was able to pursue my passion in the broadcasting industry, with many years in television (on camera talent) and in radio. We were brought up to respect our elders, to where we say "yes sir or ma'am" and open doors for people and never talk back or be disrespectful. There was never a day with out mom and dad telling us "I Love You". The one thing that was always present in the Le Blanc house was LOVE.

Up until the time that my mom was called home to be with the Lord, I have always worked in a  radio market where my mom was able to listen to my show and or watch me on TV. She was frequent  participant on my radio shows, always sharing those stories about me, live on the air, that I would rather my audience not know about me. She was always there to correct me, and point out words that I would mispronounce on the air. At the time, when she would do so, it would always seem to annoy me! Man, how I wish she would be here to correct me now!

Even though my mom is gone, she has left me with many memories. My family says that I am a lot like her. I have a memory like an elephant to where I can remember the slightest details of just about any event. I have a passion for cooking and like mom used to be, I am considered to be the life of the party!

My mom loved to have a good time, she loved to drink, she was loud and she would cuss like a sailor. I have some of those traits today! My mom would love to drink Crown Royal and water with a twist of lemon, which is my favorite adult beverage! She had a Budweiser sticker on her rocking chair(that I still have today in my living room, that my dad made) and she would joke that when she dies, the Clydesdale Horses would carry her casket to her final resting place.

Mothers Day is the one day that we acknowledge the time, love and lessons that our mothers taught us. It is those lessons that make us the adults we are today!

Take a time to call your mom. If your mom is gone, call your father or family! We are only here on this earth for a short time and it's the quality time that we spend with family and loved ones that makes this journey in life, a life full of love and enjoyable experiences!

To all the mothers- WE LOVE YOU and thank you for your love, support and life experiences!
