The state of North Dakota has another animal cruelty bill to consider. If you remember a few months back an animal cruelty bill was defeated by voters but now a new piece of legislation is working it's way through the capital.

What makes this bill a bit different is that is has broad support from various groups including animal shelters, veterinarians and from agriculture and farm groups. If passed this bill would define neglect, abuse and cruelty as three separate violations which can range from a Class A misdemeanor for a first offense to a Class C felony for any subsequent offenses with in five years.  As an animal owner and animal lover, I encourage each of you to get familiar with this bill and let your legislative Representative know your opinions on this bill.(Senate Bill 2211) Our animals should have rights and be protected from abuse and neglect.
