The Bismarck City Commission voted unanimously Tuesday, 5-0, to expand the Bismarck Civic Center Exhibit hall for close to $30 million.

The expansion is expected to begin this spring and should be finished sometime in the spring of 2014. The reason for the expansion, according to the Bismarck Tribune, is to meet immediate convention needs.

The Bismarck City Commission also agreed to start a private-public study into the possibility of erecting a second event center on the north-side of Bismarck.
