Bismarck Man Charged With Assault on Deputy

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man faces a felony assault charge after allegedly head-butting a sheriff's deputy during his arrest.

Nicolas West was charged Tuesday with assault, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He's accused of head-butting a deputy who was taking West into custody following a domestic disturbance.

According to deputy Levi Marshall, authorities were called to a home Monday after West had been drinking and arguing with his two sisters. The Bismarck Tribune reports both of them told deputies they feared for their well-being, and West was arrested.

Marshall says deputies attempted to restrain West when he began striking the cage in the back of the squad car with his forehead. He then allegedly head-butted one of the officers.

Online court records don't list an attorney for West.
