The Bismarck Marathon scheduled for the Saturday, September 19th has joined the ever growing list of events cancelled due to COVID-19.  All of the events associated with the Bismarck Marathon scheduled from September 17th to September 19th are also cancelled.  This includes the Mini Marathon, Motivational Mile, The BisBark and The Pub Crawl.  The decision was based on the recent uptick in positive cases in Burleigh and Morton counties.  The recent travel restrictions of some states to and from North Dakota also came into play.  Runners from 30 different states had been registered for the race.

This would've been the 40th anniversary of this great event in Bismarck-Mandan.  Now, the Marathon did have a COVID-19 response plan in place.  It included all ND Smart Restart guidelines with an emphasis on social distancing, hygiene, minimizing human touchpoint opportunities, and individual responsibility.  Scheduling changes and race caps as well as staggered race start times were put into place to help implement their COVID-19 Response Plan.

The cancellation policy will goes as follows:  Defer registration to 2021.  This option will lock in your 2020 price and prevent you from having to pay another registration fee at the 2021 Bismarck Marathon.  You may also offer up your registration as a charitable donation.  If this option is chosen, runners might be able to claim the registration prices as a donation on their income tax returns and the marathon will promise to use 100% of the donation to donate to local charitable organizations.  If you would prefer to receive a refund the total amount will be refunded to you within two weeks of cancellation.
