Yep, I've seen many people hop out of their cars to get a picture of the bison. Look at the bison honey! Get a picture of me with the bison!

The only bison you should get your picture taken with is this guy- although technically he's a bi-zen

A Watford City woman's encounter with a bison in the wild took a terrifying turn on Monday afternoon in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.   She was hiking on a trail when she came across the big bull.  The bull charged, knocking her down to the ground.  She then called 911 and when the ranger arrived- the bison was still there!!  The ranger tried "hazing measures" which apparently were ineffective. Hey then shot the bison which apparently was much more effective. The woman was helicoptered to MInot with broken vertebrae and facial fractures.

There's not much advice for avoiding a bison attack.  It's recommended you stay a least 25 yards away...and that's about all I could find. Although, in today's story the gun seemed to do just fine. Maybe an air horn might help.

Take great care if you find yourself getting too close to "where the buffalo roam".

Which is actually in Asia.

That's right,  I said it. Buffalo (like water buffalo and cape buffalo) don't live around here. But bison do...let's review
