Carrie Underwood's been the voice of Sunday Night Football's opening theme since 2013, and, six years in, she's ready to switch things up. In a newly released teaser clip, Underwood and those involved in the creation of the 2018-2019 SNF opening share more about this season's new theme song, "Game On."

Underwood co-wrote "Game On" with Chris DeStefano and Brett James. "We just felt like it was time to maybe switch it up," Underwood explains, adding that the three penned the "great hype song" specifically for Sunday Night Football. The trio, plus rapper Ludacris, co-wrote "The Champion," used during Super Bowl LII and 2018 Winter Olympics coverage; together with Priscilla Renea, they also wrote "Oh, Sunday Night," the previous SNF theme song.

DeStefano and Mark Bright co-produced "Game On," while Tripp Dixon is directing the Sunday Night Football opening video for the 2018-2019 season. The clip will feature Underwood and 10 NFL players.

"Carrie brought us [the] new song, and it kind of inspired us to get out of the soundstage," Dixon notes. "Any time you work with a big star like Carrie and combine it with NFL's best, you know it's going to be big, and you know it's going to be fun."

The 2018-2019 SNF season will begin on Sept. 9, with the Chicago Bears playing the Green Bay Packers. This season will be Underwood's sixth singing the Sunday Night Football opening theme, since she took over for Faith Hill in 2013.

Underwood is currently preparing for the release of her next album, Cry Pretty. The project is due out on Sept. 14.
