Comedy Clubs Charge Per Laugh Using Facial Recognition Software

Here is a new idea that is being used in Barcelona's comedy clubs. There is no cover charge to get into comedy clubs, but you are charge by the laugh.

Teatreneu Club in Barcelona is using a new software program that registers each laugh that you produce. You are then charged for the laugh and it is inspiring curmudgeonliness in the name of being thrifty.

According to Time.com

Tablet devices are attached to the back of seats to gauge people’s amusement, charging 0.30 euros (.38¢) per laugh at a cap of 24 euros (about $30). As if performing comedy wasn’t daunting enough without have an audience that is incentivized not to laugh.

Some think it's a publicity stunt, but it's actually catching on through out the country.
