When I was a young athlete playing sports, I saw a lot of fans who behaved rudely.  As I got older and took my place on the sidelines, I still saw may fans who didn't set good examples.  I'm not talking about professional sports where you pay to have the right to go and make a fool out of yourself or amateur sports where a few people may over indulge on the softball diamonds, but youth sports where I think that you have a responsibility to be a good fan and set a good example for the kids.  This brings us to today's excerpt of DON'T BE THAT GUY:

High School Coach Arrested For Beating Heckling Fan: A Lincolnton, North Carolina basketball coach was recently charged with assault for beating a heckling fan. Chadwick Wright's high school team recently lost their 13th game in a row before a man started heckling him and his players. Chadwick ran into the stands and began fighting with the man. Chadwick was charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct. He has been placed on administrative leave.

I don't agree with his actions and the coaches should be held to an even higher standard when it comes to youth sports, but I can say that I understand what drove this coach to the breaking point.  Whether you're a coach or a fan or even an athlete, please, Don't Be That Guy!
