BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — State wildlife officials have scheduled North Dakota's early Canada goose hunting season, which is aimed at reducing a population that has grown well above management goals.

The Game and Fish Department says the season will open Aug. 15 and continue through Sept. 15, except in the Missouri River Zone, where the season ends Sept. 7.

The season has a limit of 15 geese daily and 45 in possession, the same as last year.

Licenses will be more expensive this year, following increases approved by the state Legislature last year.
