Happy Easter all! The Easter holiday is very important to many. Not only is it a day for family and feasting. For most it is an important day in the Christian church calendar because it celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection, according to Christian belief.

The Easter Sunday is always on different days of each year. This year, April 5th is the Sunday to celebrate.

2016, it's March 27.

Why does Easter fall on a different date every year?

According to Why Center.com

"In fact, Easter Sunday can fall anywhere between March 22nd and April 25th, which is a span of 4 weeks difference. It’s also been noted that eastern orthodox churches seem to celebrate Easter on a different date to western churches.

Depending on where you live, the day is celebrated differently. Many churches celebrate with special services on Easter Sunday, Jesus Christ's resurrection after his crucifixion. Families celebrate with decorated eggs, hard boiled eggs.

So why the Easter Bunny? How does this fall into a Christian holiday?

According to Discovery.com

"the origin of the Easter Bunny — can be traced back to 13th-century, pre-Christian Germany, when people worshiped several gods and goddesses. The Teutonic deity Eostra was the goddess of spring and fertility, and feasts were held in her honor on the Vernal Equinox. Her symbol was the rabbit because of the animal’s high reproduction rate.

There you have the background. Personally speaking, my favorite part of the holiday is not only being with family and the Christian aspect.

For me, it's the day after Easter when all of the candy is half price or more!

HAPPY EASTER!
