Favorable Weather Aids North Dakota Harvest

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A week of warm, dry weather has helped North Dakota farmers harvest row crops.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that average temperatures were 6-10 degrees above normal, and the major production areas were mostly dry.

The corn harvest has gotten underway, at 3 percent complete. About one-third of North Dakota's soybean crop is in the bin, ahead of the average pace.

The canola harvest is nearly done. The harvesting of potatoes has passed the halfway point. Seventeen percent of the sugar beet crop is harvested. All three harvests are ahead of average.

Pasture and range conditions statewide are rated 49 percent good to excellent. Stock water supplies are 80 percent adequate to surplus.
