First Responder Recognition: WINNER!

It's the first Friday of the new month, and you know what that means? It means that it's time to announce the latest winner of First Responder Recognition. Over the past month, we've featured many North Dakota heroes, so it was not easy to pick a winner. Are you ready for it? And the winner for the month of May is... Gretchen!

You may remember Gretchen, she was one of our first weekly features for the month of May. Gretchen is a hero who works with the smallest and most vulnerable people in our community. As a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse at Sanford in Bismarck, she helps premature and sickly newborns get healthy to go home.

Gretchen was nominated by a woman named Summer was personally touched by Gretchen's kindness. Back in 2016, Gretchen had to care for Summer's premature son. Her baby was in critical condition, but Summer says "Gretchen was the most caring and loving nurse in the NICU."

Gretchen is the winner of a restaurant gift card, courtesy of Bismarck Heating & Air, Peacock Alley, and 40 Steak & Seafood. Every Friday, we are featuring local heroes for FIrst Responder Recogntion. And once a month, one of the heroes will be picked to win from the sponsors listed above.
