Time to dust off the the fishing equipment and take advantage of a FREE fishing weekend in North Dakota.  That's right, June 6th and 7th all residents of North Dakota can fish for free in the state without a North Dakota fishing licence.

This is for residents age 16 years of age or older.  Children 15 years of age or younger do NOT need a licence in the state at anytime.  For fishing regulations and information on fishing waters check out the this link on the North Dakota Game & Fish website...Fishing regulations and information on fishing waters.

If you're looking for some place to take a kid fishing this weekend, here are some of my suggestions for in and around Bismarck.  Fish Creek Dam west of Mandan.  It has Crappie, Bass and Trout. Harmon Lake NW of Mandan has a variety of species. McDowell Dam west of Lincoln.  Has a decent Bluegill and Bass population.  The North Dakota Game & Fish Pond in the city of Bismarck off of Expressway.  It has several species available.  Sheep Creek Dam near the city of Elgin.  Crappie, Bass and Trout.  Nelson Lake near the city of Center.  Lot's of Bluegills, Crappies and Bass will keep the kids busy.  Consumption of fish are not recommended in this lake.  New Johns Lake North West of Wilton has a good Smallmouth Bass population (Catch and Release is encouraged) and some Walleyes.  Sweet Briar Dam west of Mandan has some nice Largemouth Bass and panfish.

There you have it, everything you need to have a good weekend.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.  Storms are expected Saturday, but you always have Sunday.  Enjoy the weekend and FISH ON!
