BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The National Weather Service says a thunderstorm caused hail the size of golf balls and winds of up to 70 mph in parts of central North Dakota.

Weather service meteorologist Bill Abeling says the strongest winds from Thursday night's storm were reported in Underwood. He says hail of up to 1.7 inches in diameter was reported near Garrison.

Abeling says there were some reports of downed tree branches in the region. No injuries were reported.
