As of 6:45 a.m., a NO TRAVEL ADVISORY is still in effect for a majority of the state including Bismarck and surrounding areas.

Several major travel arteries are closed including I 94, State Highway 83, Highway 2 from Minot to Devils Lake, Highway 52 from Minot to Carrington and Highway 281 from Carrington to Canada. I 29  is closed from Grand Forks North.

The James River Valley experienced an ice storm with up to a quarter of an inch of ice and with the strong winds, a few power outages are bring reported.

The winds will continue to decrease as the day progresses. Winds in Bimsarck topped at 47 mph on Christmas Day.

Snow drifts throughout the area, on highways and side roads will continue to present a problem for travel. Many people will spend the day today and tomorrow digging out of their house.

Weather conditions will improve slightly today and this afternoon, from West to East. The winds will decrease, but will stay in the 20-30 mph range today.

Once again, travel is not advised, you should stay where ever you are.
